CLEVELAND, Ohio and CARLSBAD, California - June 10, 2003 - National City (NYSE:NCC) and AcuPrint Technology, an industry leader in secure payment transaction solutions, today announced a Positive Pay referral agreement program. The agreement enables National City to refer their commercial clients to AcuPrint's Positive Pay solution, SecurePay, at a reduced licensing fee. The SecurePay solution simplifies the capture, encryption and transmission of a commercial client's check issue files to the bank for fraud prevention, providing a user-friendly environment already compatible with National City's file systems.
Positive Pay allows National City's commercial clients to transmit their check issue information to the bank before checks are issued to employees. As checks are presented to National City, the software matches each check's information to the client's check issue file. Any discrepancies between the check file and the presented checks are flagged for client review. The client is then notified and can determine whether the check is valid or fraudulent.
"National City is committed to constantly enhancing our products and services for our corporate clients, that provide genuine value and further protect their assets. Positive Pay is a great tool to fight check fraud and SecurePay makes the implementation process simple for our clients," says John T. Sciano, disbursement product manager at National City. "Once installed, SecurePay completely automates the task of Positive Pay file creation, which traditionally has been a laborious chore requiring much custom programming and IT resources. Additionally, the software is shipped to the client preconfigured with National City's file format and transmission protocol to guarantee seamless connectivity."
"National City's clients can be assured that they will experience swift and efficient installation of the SecurePay product as well as AcuPrint's commitment to provide exceptional customer support throughout the installation process," stated AcuPrint Technology chief executive officer Richard Love. "Because SecurePay is universally compatible with all platforms, our technical support team is well-versed on executing the product within any environment, virtually guaranteeing a quick and positive installation process."
