Q: How are checks printed using APSecure-RCP?

Local Check Printing
With local check printing, check data is merged with the correct check overlay at the secure Print Control Center and sent to a local PCL 5e compatible printer on your network.

Remote Check Printing (non-networked locations)
With remote check printing, the remote user is notified via email each time a check run is available for printing. The user logs in to securely access and download checks for printing to their local printer.

A: APSecure-RCP will work with any PCL-5e printer, and possibly other laser printers.

Q: How secure is APSecure-RCP file delivery to remote sites?

A: Multiple layers of security are built into APSecure-RCP's check file delivery:

  1. All check data is encrypted as it crosses the internet. APSecure-RCP uses 256-bit AES encryption when check data is transferred via web services and SSL when transferred via HTTPS.
  2. The remote user must also provide the correct username and password for the specific data being accessed. If the RCP implementation uses web services, the user must also have the remote check printing client software installed on their system.
  3. This high-level of security is further enhanced by locking down access to the RCP system in your network's firewall. Your firewall settings can restrict access to specific IP addresses.
  4. By implementing the system's workflow notification feature you add yet another layer of security to check distribution. Specified recipients will receive email notifications to review and approve check runs prior to distribution and notifications each time checks are printed at a remote site.

Q: What is required at a remote location to print checks using the APSecure-RCP system?

A: The requirements for the remote site are a web connection and a PCL 5e compatible printer (other laser printers may be compatible as well). If web services are being used for access, client software is also required.

Q: What is the workflow notification process, and how is it configured and managed in APSecure-RCP?

A: Workflow email notifications allow you to set up internal controls in your remote check printing process. Notification settings are configured and managed by the system administrator at the secure Printing Control Center. The following types of email notifications can be sent to designated recipients:

Check-Data File Review
Notifications to review, edit, or approve the batch check-data file before it is distributed for check printing

Printing Status
Notifications that checks have successfully printed at a particular location

Warnings
Notifications that provide information about an event that requires administrative attention (e.g. an event failing to take place at a prescribed time)

A: All of these things are easily configured and managed from one central point - the secure Printing Control Center (i.e. the APSecure-RCP host server).
